Retractable dentures are an old German technique used to restore new teeth for patients with periodontal disease. It consists of a double crown system called a telescoping, a process that involves fitting the remaining natural teeth with an inner metal crown, followed by an outer crown as part of an overdenture that can be removed by the patient. This technique ensures that occlusal stress is evenly distributed between each tooth, protecting the remaining teeth, and the end result looks natural. This technique can also be used in the case of missing posterior molars.
